Obituaries

Fern Lewis, 76, of Big Spring, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at her residence.    

Fern was born May 3, 1933 in Menard, Texas to Dovie Mae and Charlie Ray Osburn.  She married Weldon Lewis on February 11, 1950.  He preceded her in death on August 12, 1994.  She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a homemaker.  She was a member of East 4th Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Charlie Lewis and his wife Charla; Dalton Lewis and his wife Carol; two daughters: Jo Ann Kennedy and Glenda James and her husband Johnny all of Big Spring; one sister: Gale Sparnell of Garland; one brother: Carroll Osburn and his wife Jackie of Big Spring; six grandchildren: Michele Trevino and her husband Art; Toni Hernandez and her husband Augustine all of Big Spring; Michael Lewis of Carlsbad; Casandra DeLa Cruz; Dustin Lewis and Hayley Lewis all of Big Spring; eleven great grandchildren: Seth, Gabbie and Lexie Trevino; Zachary, Julie, and Amber Hernandez; Tristin Rodriguez; Johnny, Ariah, Joshua, and Alysandra DeLa Cruz all of Big Spring; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son; three grandchildren: Johnathan Robert Lewis; Brandi Rodriguez; and Summer Smith; four brothers: Clinton Osburn; E. L. “Buck” Osburn; Kennith Osburn; and Harold “Chuck” Osburn; four sisters: Marcella Davis; Stella Dodd; Barbara Dodd and Lois Brumley; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Howard Osburn, Dustin Lewis, Seth Trevino, Zachary Hernandez, Roy Lee Williams, Gary Osburn and Tommy Brumley. 

The family would like to give a special thanks to Judy Loya, her caregiver, who was like another daughter and all the staff of Home Hospice.
